Srinagar, Sep 29 (KNO): Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President Tariq Hameed Karra on Monday said the party will launch a mass signature campaign across the Union Territory against what he called “vote theft”, while reiterating that the fight for restoration of statehood will continue. JKPCC in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that vote theft was posing a grave challenge to the Indian democratic setup, which will be defeated by the Congress to safeguard the democracy and democratic institution in the country. “Democracy is under assault since the BJP assumed power at Centre. The systematic erosion of institutions by the ruling dispensation itself is fraught with serious consequences, which will neither be accepted nor tolerated,” JKPCC said in a statement. J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President Tariq Hameed Karra made these comments while chairing a meeting of Coordinators and District Presidents of Kashmir province at Srinagar Party office. Speaking on the occasion, Tariq Hameed Karra alleged ECI-BJP collusion stands exposed by LOP Rahul Gandhi, who produced facts about the vote manipulation. Karra added and said ECI is an autonomous poll body responsible for ensuring free fair elections and maintaining transparency while conducting elections, alleging that the irony was (ECI) was itself shielding and encouraging Vote theft to benefit ruling dispensation, which has fraught with serious consequences for the India democracy. “We are launching a signature campaign across J&K to seek public support to Rahul Gandhi’s uncompromising fight against election manipulation and we won’t rest till the responsibility is fixed and Vote Chori is stopped,” JKPCC President said. The vigorous fight for Statehood shall continue, Karra said and urged the Party leaders to gear up for more public outreach programmes in their respective districts.
